Ending the Google Project

All in all, I really liked this project and I really want the chance to continue it next semester. I learned that the flute requires a very different skill set than that of the trumpet and I hope to improve my flute playing skills. (Thats why I asked Courtney if I could borrow her flute over winter break) I've found that I learn really quickly and now there's a reange of instruments that I want to set my sights on. Starting with the piano and the viola. Both of which are readilly accessable at my house, luckly.

Nearing The End...

Courtney and I are gearing up for our presentation on Thursday. I've been practicing constantly and I hope I don't freak out under pressure. Our set list will be as follows: Joy To The World, Jingle Bells, Mary Had A Little Lamb, and a Japanese New Years piece called Oshyo Gatsu that I'm excited to play. Maybe a little bit of Pink Panther too :)

Day 4

I started learning a segment of Gavotte! It sounds really cool even with the mistakes. I'm really intimidated by all the high notes... I keep thinking in the "trumpet state of mind" and thinking that I can't reach any of these notes on the trumpet. Then I realize that I'm not playing the trumpet :) I'm making progress (even if it is really really really really slow). I hope to learn the rest of the song soon!

I'm learning so slowly! Courtney and I got through less than half a page of warm-ups last class. I need to focus more. But I think my tone is improving... slightly :) I need more air support. I know sitting cross-legged isnt the best way to fix that but I've noticed that I get the same support when I'm standing up too.

Day 3

I learned "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "Hot Cross Buns" today! I feel a little silly for learning such childish songs but hey, I have to start somewhere.

Day 2

I'm so happy that I was able to remember the B-flat scale! I played it for Courtney and she recorded me so that video should be up soon. Switching from the Trumpet to the Flute has proven to be harder than I expected.

Day 1

Learned the B-flat scale. I'm surprised at how much I remember from two years ago. I think my tone needs some improvement :)
